Working with a small organising committee
Launch library · evergreen read

A small committee spreads the workload of organising an event across several people, which genuinely reduces the risk of any single person burning out under the weight of every decision and every task falling entirely on their own shoulders throughout the whole planning process from start to finish.
Clear roles within a small committee matter more than the exact number of people involved. Assigning specific areas, such as catering, volunteers or venue liaison, to a named individual avoids the common trap of everyone assuming someone else is handling a particular task until it is genuinely too late to fix properly.
Regular, brief check ins across the planning period, rather than one long meeting at the very start and silence until the event itself, keep a committee genuinely aligned as details inevitably shift. A short fortnightly update is usually more effective than a long, infrequent meeting nobody quite remembers properly afterward.
