What to wear to a standing gig
Launch library · evergreen read

Standing gigs reward comfort over style, though the two are not actually mutually exclusive with a little advance planning. Shoes matter most of all in this equation, closed and supportive enough to survive several hours on a hard floor without the foot pain that quietly ruins the second half of an otherwise great show.
Layers work better than a single heavy item, since body heat builds quickly in a packed crowd even on a genuinely cold night outside the venue. A light top worn under something removable lets you adjust comfortably without needing to carry a bulky coat around all evening once the room inevitably warms up around you.
Bags and accessories should stay minimal and secure, close to the body rather than swinging loosely with every movement of the crowd. This matters both for comfort in a packed space and to reduce the real chance of losing something valuable in a crowded room. Practical always beats decorative once the doors actually open for the night.
