Door sales, tickets bought directly at the venue on the night rather than in advance through an online platform, remain common for smaller local events where advance sales genuinely do not justify the extra cost and complexity of a full online ticketing system for what is a modest gathering.

Buyers choosing to rely on door sales take on a genuine risk that an event sells out before they arrive, particularly for anything with real word of mouth buzz building beforehand. Arriving early is the simplest, most reliable way to manage this risk when advance tickets are simply not available.

Door sales also typically avoid online booking fees entirely, which can make them genuinely cheaper overall for buyers willing to accept the uncertainty involved. For organisers, cash handling at the door does require its own careful planning around security and accurate reconciliation once the event has properly concluded for the night.
