Signage that actually helps on the day

Good event signage answers a question a visitor is actually asking at that exact moment, whether that is where to enter, where the toilets are located, or where a specific activity is actually happening within the site. Signage designed around organiser convenience, rather than a genuine visitor's actual questions, tends to be quietly ignored.
Placement matters just as much as the wording used on any individual sign itself. A sign positioned at a genuine decision point, such as a fork in a path or a crowded entrance, does far more real work than the same sign placed somewhere a visitor has already committed to a direction.
Simplicity beats cleverness every single time in practical event signage. Clear, large text and an obvious arrow will always outperform a witty phrase that requires a visitor to stop and puzzle out its actual meaning, particularly for visitors moving quickly through a busy, crowded space with limited attention to spare.
