The biggest mistake at a multi day festival is treating the first day as though it were the only one that truly mattered. Going too hard early, staying up latest and skipping proper food to catch every single act, tends to catch up with most people by day two, when energy and enthusiasm both drop sharply and unexpectedly.

Building in deliberate lower key stretches, whether that is a quieter stage, a longer meal break or simply sitting down somewhere away from the crowd, protects the stamina needed for the whole event rather than just its opening hours of excitement. Pacing is not the same thing as missing out on the fun.

Sleep, even a genuinely modest amount, matters more across a multi day event than any single late night could ever be worth on its own. Attendees who protect at least some rest each night consistently report enjoying the later days of a festival far more than those who treat sleep as entirely optional throughout.
