Pack down at the end of an event is genuinely easy to underestimate during planning, since organisers and volunteers are typically tired and the natural instinct is simply to finish as quickly as possible rather than methodically. A short, clear plan agreed in advance prevents this rush from causing damage or genuine confusion.

Assigning specific pack down tasks to specific people well before the event begins, rather than relying on general goodwill once everyone is already exhausted at the end of a long day, keeps the process moving efficiently. People are far more likely to follow through on a task they agreed to earlier.

Checking the venue thoroughly before finally leaving, including bins, lost property and any temporary fixtures installed for the event, avoids awkward follow up calls or genuine disputes over the return of a bond days later. A five minute final check saves considerably more time and hassle than it actually costs.
