Managing festival fatigue properly

Festival fatigue creeps in gradually rather than announcing itself clearly, which is exactly why it catches so many first time attendees off guard by the second afternoon. Standing for hours, walking long distances between stages and constant sensory stimulation all add up in ways a single quiet night's sleep cannot fully reverse.

Recognising early signs, such as irritability, a sudden loss of interest in acts you were genuinely excited about, or simple physical heaviness in the legs, gives you a real chance to adjust before exhaustion takes over completely. Small breaks taken early prevent much larger crashes later in the day or weekend.

Building rest directly into your festival plan, rather than treating it as a failure to push through, keeps energy available for the moments that matter most to you personally. A short sit down away from speakers, with water and shade, often does more good than any amount of sheer willpower alone.
