Outdoor gigs are exposed to whatever the sky decides to do that evening, unlike an indoor show, and checking a genuine forecast the morning of the event, rather than relying on general seasonal assumptions from a week earlier, gives a far more accurate picture of what the evening will actually demand from your wardrobe.
Layering remains the single most reliable strategy for outdoor shows, since temperature can shift noticeably between an early support act and a much later headline set once the sun has properly gone down. A light jacket that folds small into a bag costs little in comfort but saves considerably more later.
Footwear deserves real thought too, particularly for shows on grass or uneven ground that can turn genuinely damp even without actual rain falling during the show itself. Closed, comfortable shoes with reasonable grip will always serve an outdoor crowd better than anything chosen purely for how it looks in photos.
