Debriefing after a festival ends

The days immediately following a multi day festival are worth treating as genuine recovery time rather than an ordinary return to normal routine, since the cumulative physical toll of standing, walking and reduced sleep across several days does not simply disappear the moment the site itself closes and everyone heads home.

A short, honest personal debrief, even informal notes about what worked and what did not across packing, pacing and general planning, becomes genuinely valuable reference material for the next festival, particularly for details that felt obvious in the moment but are surprisingly easy to forget entirely by the following year.

Rehydrating properly, catching up gradually on sleep rather than all at once, and giving your body a few genuinely quiet days all help the recovery process considerably. Treating the days after a festival with the same care as the festival itself tends to make the whole experience feel more sustainable overall.
