Campsite location within a larger festival site involves a genuine trade off between proximity to stages and the noise, foot traffic and general disturbance that comes with being close to the action throughout a long day and into the night when you actually want to sleep properly and undisturbed.
Sites nearer main paths and facilities offer real convenience for toilets and food, but they also see far more foot traffic passing directly by a tent at all hours, which can genuinely disrupt sleep even for attendees who consider themselves fairly heavy sleepers under normal, quieter circumstances at home.
Arriving earlier in the overall festival window generally gives more choice over campsite position before the best, quieter spots are already taken by other early arrivals with the same idea. A little extra travel time invested early often pays off considerably in sleep quality across the whole event and weekend, particularly by the final night when tiredness has genuinely built up.
