Choosing a tent that pitches quickly matters more at a festival than almost anywhere else you might reasonably camp. Arriving late to a crowded field with a complicated, unfamiliar tent, in fading light and with tired hands, is a common and entirely avoidable source of stress that a simple, familiar setup solves immediately without any drama at all.

Sleep quality affects everything else across a festival weekend, so a decent sleeping mat is genuinely worth the extra weight it adds to a bag. Thin ground insulation is often the real, hidden reason people wake up exhausted, not the noise of a nearby campsite, which is usually the easier problem for most people to plan around in advance.

Marking your tent clearly, with something distinctive visible from a real distance, saves genuine time in a sprawling campsite where rows of nearly identical tents can look exactly the same after dark. A small flag or a strip of coloured tape at the entrance is a minor effort with a surprisingly outsized payoff later.
